Our Story
The Bloody Good Foundation (TBGF) was established following the diagnosis of Newcastle local Jaraad Kader (JK) with Burkitt lymphoma in March 2024. JK underwent intensive inpatient chemotherapy and was subsequently cared for by local consultant haematologist Dr Jon Sillar, whose expertise and dedication played a critical role in saving his life.
Dr Sillar and JK bonded over their shared passion for golf. Their conversations often turned to how the experience for patients and families facing blood cancer could be improved. From those discussions, the vision for TBGF was born.
What began as an idea on a golf course has evolved into a foundation dedicated to supporting blood cancer patients and their families, while also investing in local research. TBGF's mission is to help those affected by blood cancer today and contribute to a future where the disease can be eradicated altogether.
Let’s do some bloody good work together!

What Makes Us BLOODY GOOD
Hunter Focus
Born from the Hunter. Built for the Hunter.
We’re proudly local - 100% Hunter-based and community-led. Every dollar raised stays here, helping our own families, hospitals, and researchers. We’re not a national organisation; we’re your neighbours, your nurses, and your mates.
Care & Cure
Supporting patients now while investing in the future.
Our work bridges compassion and innovation - improving lives in the present while helping unlock the treatments and breakthroughs of tomorrow. We believe in action that heals today and discovery that transforms tomorrow.
Real Impact
Donations that do something bloody good.
We fund specialist blood cancer nurse consultants who walk beside patients from diagnosis to recovery, and we back vital local research through the Hunter Haematology Unit. Every contribution translates into real, measurable change - better care today, better outcomes tomorrow.
Big Heart
All heart. All Hunter. Always bloody good.
We bring warmth, optimism, and humanity to a serious cause. We’re professional, yes - but never clinical. We lead with kindness, humour, and community spirit, making cancer care feel more human, hopeful, and connected.
